<div style="text-align: left; padding: 3px;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/daniellehampton/3296068621/" title="photo sharing"><img alt="" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3315/3296068621_61cd99b45e.jpg" style="border: solid 2px #000000;" /></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/daniellehampton/3296068621/">a little belated valentine from my dad</a>, originally uploaded by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/daniellehampton/">daniellehampton</a>.</div>hank and i are spending the night at my parents' house tonight, and it's so nice to be here and just relax. i have felt so run down lately, and like my life is going way too fast. i wake up, workout, go to work, come home, try to get everything done and be a good wife and cook and bake and clean...then go to bed and do it all again! don't get me wrong, i love it all, but i have felt an overwhelming exhaustion lately that i am just sick of having hang over me. it's always like a mini-vacation here. my parents eat super, super healthy with the kitchen stocked with veggie, organic yummy stuff from trader joe's and whole foods and i spend every morning at the country club's gym with my mom working out and running/walking outside. i love it here, and i feel lucky to have grown up in such a beautiful area. so it's nice to just slow it down while we are here and really enjoy having no responsibilities except to enjoy ourselves! hank has to leave in a bit to start recording, and will be spending the weekend in the studio. tomorrow i'll be spending the day with my dad, and then at night hopefully spending time with my phx girls.

AHHH. but. i tried not to dwell on all of this. i typically have the best mornings, i get up with plenty of time to get fully ready, curl my hair, pick out my outfit, make breakfast, play with madeline, and snuggle with hank before i leave. i'm a total morning person. not today though. but, when i got to school my mood totally lifted. my kids are so sweet and loving, and i adore almost all of them. in my four years of teaching i have been lucky enough to get great kids every year. it's almost impossible to stay in a sad or bad mood. so, the day turned out pretty great. i went with jenn after work to look a house she is interested in, and came home to hank cooking us dinner- quinoa and fresh tomato sauce with onions/garlic. so good. we watched this weird dateline program on teenage sex slaves in america (disturbing and sad...it made us scared to have kids) and then hank went to practice and i headed to the gym. now i am ready for bed and excited to get a full eight hours. tomorrow, like every wednesday, is a half day and i get out at 1pm. we have a birthday dinner to go to, and then i'll be doing my hard plyrometrics. i can't wait, i'm so weird. hahaha. but for now, goodnight dear friends! i hope every one of you has a lovely day tomorrow.

today

snow snow

we had a snow day, which was wonderful. i do love my job, but i think anyone enjoys a day off. i just got done with a super hard workout and i am trying to cool down but also stay warm in our freezing house. i don't know if that makes sense, but i am sweating yet freezing. probably not the best combination, but oh well. we also already had a half day for tomorrow, and now they've added a two hour delay (making classes 12 min each!) which is another bonus. and off on monday! yay! hank and i just planned our valentine's evening as well, i am so so very excited. lately i feel so happy about everything, more than usual even, and i am excited for these next few months. big things on the horizon. i just need to stay focused on the now, which is something i struggle with from time to time. i always want what's on the horizon, the upgrade, moving on to bigger and better things, etc. i need to just really enjoy the here and now of everything. and i feel i usually do, but there are times i catch myself looking too much to the future rather than the present. but eek, enough serious talk for one night. right now i am in the middle of a book called "confessions of a carb queen," by susan blech. now if you know me you know i am a total sucker for any type of memoir, and i really wanted to love this one. it's in the same vein as one of my favorite books- "she's come undone" by wally lamb. it's about an obese woman's struggles, triumphs, etc. the book is OKAY so far, and i'm on page 160. the author is completely honest and talks about every single issue you could think of- she really lays it all out on the table...everything from "fat sex" (as she calls it) to her stream of consciousness take on her binging. the content is fabulous. i just feel like the writing could be so much better that i am distracted a lot by it, wishing i could go back and rewrite it. but alas, i will finish it, because i can't start a book and just put it down. i hope it picks up, and i will keep an open mind. next on my shelf is jenny mccarthys "belly laughs" - her in-your-face look at pregnancy. and no...i'm not pregnant. haha. so right now it is 10:23 and i should be heading to bed but i put off my workout until waay too late and now i am super wound up. i have phonecalls to return, and emails to respond to anyway, so perhaps i could use my energy there. hmmm...either way, i'm signing offline. goodnight my dear friends!

today is sunday

it's sunday evening and i am already counting down to next weekend! this one was so productive and wonderful. we are in our new home now, but we are still working on packing up and cleaning the old place. what a chore. i am currently in bed, with madeline snuggled up on my feet, and hank is in the kitchen taking a test for some class. he is taking five classes this semester, yuck! he is so smart though that he doesn't really struggle with work, and it's so interesting to see him in this element- he's a hard worker. it snowed today and if i had my usb cable here i would upload photos of our neighborhood and it's beautiful snowy self this morning. i took a little stroll and snapped a few shots so maybe i will put them up tomorrow. i am looking forward to a good week at school, leading into a 3 day weekend, an hotw show, and valentine's day! this will be our first valentine's as a married couple and i am excited! i know many people don't like to celebrate commercialized holidays like this one, but any excuse i can get to put on a party dress for a romantic date, focus on the color pink, cover everything in hearts and bake festive cupcakes, i'm in! plus, i feel so giddy in love with hank that it's funny to celebrate a sickly-sweet holiday. so anyway, lately i have been really into adding to our library of books. right now i am trying to purchase all of the classic literature i love. i can't wait until we buy our first home, i am insisting it have some sort of built in book shelving in one room and i am looking forward to organizing our books perfectly in those shelves. so...wow, it's only 9:25pm right now and i am already getting tired, awesome. i am going to start my valentine cards and drift off to bed...goodnight! xo
